Finally, after some bugfixes and the score submit code done, Rescue Heroes is released. I’ve also released it on FlashGameLicense to see if anyone wants to sponsor it. Fingers crossed, i’ll get a good bid!
Finally, after many delays…Rescue Heroes is almost ready to be released. The version here is the beta version, with possibly some bugs and the final stats and submit scores yet to be done. Try it out and give your comments, bugs, suggestions!
Here is Rescue Heroes as a basic game. You can catch people falling off the building and get points. Your lives are indicated on the top left as helmets and your score is top right. You get more points for catching people dead center and less points for catching on the edge. Also, catching dead center and getting a “perfect!” will start a combo multiplier. Each perfect after that will increase the multiplier by 1 and the normal score will be multiplied by that. The appearance sequence of falling people is not final yet, its pretty much impossible to save the 3rd person!
Well, that took much longer than expected! What with Youth 09 + Iceblast Bugs + Lecturing + Muay Thai training, things dragged on longer than usual. Anyhoo, here is the current Titlescreen for Rescue Heroes:Firefighter, click to see the version with animated fx!
Well, being the holiday season and all I didn’t accomplish much except gain weight…heheh. This is what I’ve got so far, only art and no code. Forgive the crude building in the background, still working on that.
Having developed Iceblast, which in total took me 8 months, I’ve decided to try my hand at smaller simpler games to be distributed online and hopefully get sponsorship and ad money.
I’m starting a new series of games called Rescue Heroes. It features simple gameplay around the theme of “real heroes”. The first of it will be Rescue Heroes:Fire Rescue. You basically control a team of firemen that have to catch people jumping out of a burning building.
I plan to have it set within a 1930s setting with similar art style(hopefully as I am quite woeful at art). The only thing complete so far is the logo.
Its a bit strange to see your words translated into 4 different languages. Also interesting to see “slangish” words like Highscore get translated into a really long foreign word. Iceblast is translated into German, French, Spanish & Japanese, see if you know which is which.
Well, i’ve put it up for sponsorship on flashgamelicense.com and so far I haven’t got any bids yet. There have been a few sponsors that have taken a look but no one has put in a bid. I’ve gotten a complaint saying that it was too hard to get a highscore. I think Iceblast may be a bit too complex for this sort of situation as although it is relatively simple in terms of mechanics, to be able to master the tactics involved in getting a high score is more complex. I’ve added a tips & tricks section in the description so hopefully it’ll help them along. I guess I might change the help to a tips section to help nudge people into the right direction.
